Terry James is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University
School of Nursing, where he earned a bachelor's degree
and master's in nursing as a family and pediatric nurse
practitioner. He has worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital
for 3 years, first in critical care working in the neurosciences
intensive care unit, then with the emergency psychiatry
department taking care of acutely ill patients with
medical and psychiatric problems. Terry earned his first
undergraduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford,
CT in International Studies, East Asia, with a focus
in Education.
Terry was also a Peace Corps volunteer working in Bangladesh
in 2001, teaching English and working on health promotion
projects.
A California native, born in San Francisco, Terry was
raised in the Bay Area and in Southern California. All
of his family is still in California, spread throughout
the state. He speaks Chinese and some Spanish. Terry
has a passion for traveling and has visited around 20
countries, mostly in Asia and the South Pacific. He
rides mountain and road bicycles and is looking forward
to riding in Oregon. He is also an aquariast and aquatic
gardener, keeping fish since he was a kid.
